Hi Everyone.

I am trying to design a cantilever beam sistered to main beam. My question is how should I set up the supports? fixed, pin at every bolt, or pins at locations where it sits on a wall and the last bolt location?
Please see my sketch attached. Sorry if it's messy. I can make another sketch if it's not clear. Thank you

Try reviewing a few of these threads:

I typically connect the new cantilever extension member to the existing member at the interior end only (group of nails or bolts, etc.) and treat that as an end reaction on the cantilever beam - which in turn causes a pointload (usually upward) on the existing beam.

This is another thread I've found useful in designing these sorts of wood connections. Rather than doing a bunch of bolts along the length, I'd suggest two fastener groups spread as far apart as necessary to form the force couple.
