I am looking for the maximum allowable shaft deflection under API 610 7th Edition. I understand that this is given for the shaft at the impeller, as opposed to 8th Edition which states a maximum deflection of 0.002 in. at the mechanical seals.

I'm sure you will get a response from somebody familiar w/the 7th edition. I wanted to make a point that a "shaft deflection calculation" is a warm fuzzy blanket for some consulting engineers(?). A more meaningful "calculation" would be to calculate the maximum shaft angularity at the mechanical seal location. From a seals point of view, a deflection of 0.002" can be good or bad- - -IT DEPENDS ON THE SHAFT ANGULARITY!
