Selection Scope in NX10 not like it was in NX9

Any one else notice they changed the way you pick your stuff on the screen, from NX9 to NX10, I think it sucks in NX10 and is cumbersome to use. Why can't they just leave the way it was, I know there is a maintenance release out, and that still didn't fix the problem.

Can you please be a bit more specific? Exactly what are the situations where you're seeing what you believe are changes that were made between NX 9.0 and NX 10.0?

If you go into NX9 and have it on entire assembly, and say you pick a component to hide out of a assembly using the rectangle\lasso method will just hide that component, but in NX10 using the same setup it will hide the entire assembly that, that component resides in.

John, I already summited this to GTAC, but even with the new maintenance package it still isn't fixed, it's a pain to work with, I switched back to NX9.

This is ONLY when the Component you're attempting to select is part of a Sub-Assembly, correct? If the Components are part of the top level Assembly it works fine, correct?

While I have no excuse, this is obviously not working correctly and is a regression from previous versions of NX, to suggest however that "it still isn't fixed" in the latest MR (Maintenance Release) is a bit harsh considering that we've only had time for one MR so far. NX 10.0 wasn't released until late in December and I suspect that not all that many people have installed it yet and development of the first MR closed several weeks ago so it's not all that surprising that it wasn't found and fixed sooner. Granted, that's not a good excuse and we perhaps should have found it during beta and our internal testing, but that's water over the bridge. When did you report this to GTAC and have they given you any indication that it has been fixed or will be shortly? If they have, did they say whether it will be fixed in an MP (Maintenance Patch) or will it have to wait for the next MR?

John, Yes I believe you are correct, let's say your in the Top assembly and rectangle window around the top clamp plate of a mold base assembly that is in another lower assembly called base assembly, but you only want to hide the TCP, it will pic the entire base, now lets say you are in that base assembly which the TCP is in, it should only pic the TCP then. I told GTAC about this some time ago, way before the MR-1 came out.

Did they open a PR? If so, did they give you a PR number?

Neither is this a critical issue, nothing crashes, nothing gets corrupt, single select+hide works as expected ( Or MB3+drag down)
only the multi select by rectangle/lasso is wrong. And yes this should be fixed, but it will not be priority 1.
If you find something which crashes, gets corrupted, or doesn't have workaround, then it is prio 1.
- It might take a little time before this is corrected.

Tomas

Which is why I would like to check the PR status because I actually think this is more critical than perhaps the 'normal' rules would indicate (I've had this opinion seconded by others).

Sorry John I forgot to put the IR number on here for you here it is IR #: 7266990

Hey Toost I have other issues that have IR and PR in the works because of crashes, Just a FYI.

John, I have been digging back through my emails and I found where the IR 726690 has been converted to a PR 7275778 back on 1/23/15, but like I said even with the new MR1 it still wasn't fixed.

Yes, I've researched your PR and it was reassigned as a duplicate of an earlier PR. I've checked with the developer who was assigned to address this and he's working on it. When I get an idea of when it will be fixed I'll let you know. BTW, since you've opened your own PR you should be getting an 'official' notice when it's fixed and if it's part an MP (Maintenance Patch) how to get and install it.
