Selection of material thickness for PQR

How do we get thicknesses and materials for wps/pqr in a piping project? Is it from drawings or any other documents?

There could be thousands of drawings in a project

Are you designing or manufacturing? If you are designing, you determine all that based on your requirements. If you are manufacturing, your customer hands you drawings and/or a contract.

There needs to be a master list of all welds, alloys, p No, thickness, weld type, psoition.
The you can build the list of procedures and make sure that they are all covered.
And then you can sort out how many different qualifications will be required.
I start with the BoM and make sure that those are all adressed.

Ed is giving the right direction. Start with the bill of materials to determine what you will be welding.
In general, the thickness qualified will be 1/2T to 2T where T is the thickness of the test coupon used to qualify the WPS. Now, 1/2T to 2T is a white lie, but it is a starting point. You didn't provide us with information regarding the governing welding code. You mention pipe, so perhaps ASME applies. That being the case, Section IX would provide more specific information. Depending on the thickness you use, the thickness range could be 1/16-inch to 2T or if the test piece is thicker or equal to 1 1/2-inch the thickness range could be 3/16-inch to 8-inches.
