Hi again,
Is it possible to section selected parts of an assembly while drafting in NX 10?

Shetty,

Using NX 10.0.1.4

You could always make use of the part attribute SECTION-COMPONENT, setting it to NO

NX 9.0.3.4
NX 10.0.1.4 (Testing)
Windows 7 64 (Windows 8.1 Tablet)

Thanks Phill, but I discovered what I think is another solution while trying to do what you said...
There is an option in settings of section view where we can select non-sectioned objects, but I am not able to obtain desired results....

BTW could you be little more specific as to how to go about in your solution?
Thanks

The section/non-section behavior using the two methods mentioned should be the same.

The advantage of the Attribute approach is that you can assign this, as part of the original model, to parts that under normal conditions are never sectioned, like fasteners. The option used during the creation of a section view will only effect that view in that Drawing. Other than that, the final results should be the same.

Is it possible to keep/show a component which is not in contact with section plane and is positioned ahead of the section plane using the above options?
I needed such a section?
Rather the guy who gave me the task needs such a section.

Thanks John

From the above mentioned possible solutions I could not obtain my desired result of showing a part of assembly which is in front of the section. I tried clipping in section view settings as well, but only the parts which were present/intersected by the section plane were visible, not the one in front of the plane and not touching the plane.

Yes, I would expect NX to work in this manner.

Thought so...
Apparently, the part which was at question was corrupted/damaged. So once the part was recreated, the show parts in foreground worked and got me what I needed.
I learned a lot while exploring the various options and discovered some new features which make NX 10 relatively better once you get the hang of it...
Super thanks to all of you.

Yes, the more you learn about NX the more you will like it.
Ask more questions on here if you need more help.

@Jerry
True,I think it's the same with most of the good softwares.....The same happened to me earlier with Pro-E/Creo wrt modelling and drafting....
