We used to be able to save x-section (sketch) entities into their own IGES file by selecting the sketch in the model tree, file, save as. SWX would then ask if you want to save only the selected entities.
Worked great!
Now I can't get this to work. We're running 2001+. I've even re-loaded 2000 (wondering if this function was omitted in the newer releases). It doesn't work in 2000 either.
I'm thinking something got changed in Tools,Options but can't find anything.

Has anyone ever used this or have any ideas what would control this? I found a work-around but it's not as easy as just saving the selected items.

Hello,

I don't believe this function exists, although I agree with you that it may have existed in previous versions. You are probably aware that you can export Sketch Entities (it appears that you have a work around)... I will list the steps below for everyone's benefit.

The only way I know, how to save Sketch Entities in IGES is:
1) Save As IGES
2) Select Options (in the Save As dialog box)
3) Check ON Export sketch entities

From the online help...
"Export sketch entities. Select this check box to include sketch entities in the exported file. All 2D and 3D sketch entities are included."

cheers,

Joseph
