Restraint Type - Partial or Lateral

Hi, first post!

I'm wondering how to input the steel design data for a beam in a problem i'm solving in Space GASS.

If you see the attached image, the grey beam is a fabricated FB700, the red beams are B6b's and the blue ones are T6a's.

I want to input the data for the grey beam. So when taking the red beams influence into account as intermediate restraints, would I count the as partial or lateral? Or any other support type?

The red beams are fully welded to the grey beam.

What is a B6b, and what is a T6a? What is their purpose? Is this a platform supported off one side of the 700 deep beam? What are the conditions at the ends of the 700 deep beam?

Your question is a great indicator of the uselessness of graphics if no story is told. A hand drawn sketch might have been more informative.

You should review the Space GASS training videos. I have never used Space GASS, but the videos mention partial and lateral restraint. I would assume that a lateral restraint would be a member which prevents movement of the braced member. In your case, the short red beams, together with the long red beams, form a vierendeel truss, so I would think the attachment of the short red beams to the grey beam would be a partial restraint but I am not sure and the terminology is not standard structural terminology so far as I know.
