I have a fifteen year old home, with poured wall basement. The project that I have is to cantilever 2x10 floor joists doubled up extending four feet past the foundation wall making an area 4x8 when finished. I would like to brick this. A large window will be used 6x6 feet and 32inch wide side windows. To support the structure could a pier foundation be used? Putting an 8 inch pier in the outer corners, with 1/2 inch re bar run down the pier then bent 90deg. and attached to the existing foundation by drilling four holes on each side and epoxy the re bar to the original foundation. Next forming a concrete beam resting on the piers and held to the original foundation by the re bar epoxyed in place? Also clearing soil away two inches below beams so no frost heave. Piers are 48inch deep. Area is south west Ohio.
