HI,
May be one of the from member can explain the reason and consequence of valve moving during depressure step of a aerial reciprocating compressor .before starting.

This allows you to start without a gas load by holding the cylinder suction open.

What is the benefit by starting it without load.

The driver does not need to be capable of Full Load torque at start-up, if it was it would be larger than required for normal operating conditions.
