Proof that XLPE is not a Plastic 2

Is there a proof if XLPE is not a plastic? Its just a thermosetting compound. Do we have papers for it?

One problem with your statement is that these materials are made with varying degrees of crosslinking. So while they are thermoset some barely make it.

XLPE is a plastic. There are thermoplatics and there are thermoset plastics. In some contexts even steel can be called a plastic material. The definition of the word "plastic" can be very ... plastic.

 

I learned in ME 215 that there are two basic categories of plastics: thermoplatic and thermoset.
However it is my considered opinion that plastic is not a real material.

Plastic is the wrong word, polymer is the correct one. To make a thermoset you take the base resin and cause it to crosslink. This is done by various methods and to various amounts.
You end up with materials that have different properties (hardness, GTT, chemical stability and so on).
Better yet why not use the specifications to describe the materials? Less ambiguity.

But what do we classify XLPE before cross-linking when it is in Granule or Resin Form, and what is it classified into after Cross-Linking?

Classification like Plastics, Polymers, etc

Polymers might be materials, depending on you process them.
