I was wondering what the past experiences have been for anyone who's had to send ProE part and assembly files to Maya for animating? <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Do you just deal with the heavy STL file? Do you cross your fingers the IGES file works? Do you use a third party translation software? Do you just remodel in Maya? Is there some other secret?

Help...

Thanks for looking,

Justin

Depends upon the geometry. For a square object like an air conditioner with lots of parts I suggest OBJ. Its far lighter than STL geometry but similar. Sometimes for ergonomic or stylized surfaces OBJ is best as well but.... IGES and STEP sometimes has issues with tessellation in MAYA. When I hit that problem I usually go flip to an obj file transfer.
