Problems with the Transient analysis of a Double cantilever beam

Hi

I am trying to do a transient analysis of a double cantilever beam 9ie fixed at both ends) in Ansys MultiPhysics v11 on xp.

The DCB consist of two materials, the first a heater material of aluminium on top of a passive silicon dioxide base.
A square pulse voltage of 0.1 us seconds is passed through the heater material, this is the thermal model which works fine using solid 69 and 70

The mechanical model are where the problems occur. I read in the thermal results file as the new B.C’s and I expect the DCB to deflect downwards but nothing really happens and no errors occur. Tiny deflection , like 1e-10 are recorded.

The element type I am using here in the mechanical model are types Solid 45 for the passive silicon dioxide base and solid 45 or Solsh 190 for the heater material unsure about these!!!

Can anyone tell me what are the correct assumptions to make including the correct elements types should be?
Would buckling have to be considered?
Or would anyone have a DCB transient analysis example I could follow
