We're being asked to re-rate a pressure vessel for potentially a higher MAWP. The material that the vessel was constructed of is SA-212-B, which is no longer within the allowable stress tables (discontinued mid 19060's i believe). What guidance does ASME provide to perform this re-rating(i.e., is there a citation that i can point to for these circumstances)? Am i to use the allowable stress from the year of fabrication (1961) in this case? We're also going to recommend to the client conduct a Fitness-For-Service evaluation per ASME FFS-1.

Thanks in advance!

SA-212 was replaced by SA-515 and SA-516. You can always use the original Code and Edition for the rerate. You should check with the NBIC; however, because I believe there are added restrictions for vessels constructed prior to
1962.

Thanks weldstan!
