Hello everyone,

while modelling a rectangular pressure vessel, I get a peak in the stress results, which can only be a numerical singularity. Any idea how to avoid this or to refine the model so that I don't get this high peak? I've tried changinge the beam elements to surface elements, the results were not better. I've also tried trimming the beam elements from the ends, so that they don't meet the nodes on the corners. Also no better results. I've tried minimising the finite element size. Also no better results. So, any idea?

Thanks in advance

What's the purpose of this analysis? Are you performing this analysis in accordance with any particular Code or Standard? Why do you want to avoid the peak stresses? Do you think that they are real or fictitious? What sort of elements are you using?
