Hi there,

Does anyone have an elegant solution to get a rotary fifth axis to always position in a specific direction?
Perhaps a custom command?

Now, this machine is ALWAYS shortest distance. No option. No choice.
it is an infinite C axis (with terrible backlash :D ).

It must be absolute positioning and I'd love for it to be fully automatic, for example, always go 5deg beyond, then come back.

Make sense? I hope so.

Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay,

If I were you I'd write a custom command based around the MOM / mom variables already used by 5th axis rotate.
You'll have to make up some new vars as well but I have found that this is definitely the best way to get the post doing exactly what you need.

Our fourth axis is a one degree indexer and due to the way we load the machine, any part any face, we always position in G91.
