i have never used this feature but it works in following way

click on offset coordinate system datum point tool

View attachment 4001

select the coordinate system from the model tree (or screen)

View attachment 4002

then click on import.

you can import your point cloud data file in two formats.

.pts

.ibl.

so you have to change your file extention accodingly.

please let me know if it works

or if possible can u send me the point cloud file you have. so that i can give it a try.

Hi,

Whats d significance of point cloud data?

Whats dat extensions .pts and .ibl?

Whats d data to store as .pts and .ibl extensions?

Hi Sanjeev,

To be more specific I have an IGES file which contains the points. Iproceeded as per your guidence but my pro-e crashes every time I tried. The size of the IGES file is 23.2mb

We have some hint in the Pro-E help in surfacing>>Pro/scan but could not get the benifite

Importing points as coordinate points probably wasn't meant for point clouds (23.2 MB worth of points seems a lot

).

Point clouds are the typical output of 3D-scanners. Demonstrations I've seen all had postprocessing software that were able to translate the poionts into a surface that in its turn could be exported as IGES for instance.
