B31J replace Welding research Council bulletin 330?

L S THILL

Hi Leonard,

The Welding Research Council Bulletins are very important and they are referenced many times by the ASME B31 Pressure Piping Committees. However, the WRC Bulletins are not produced by a standing committee and the local building Codes do not reference them So, the WRC Bulletins never gain the "force of law". Documents developed by the ASME B31 Pressure Piping Committees are of course developed by standing committees the structure of which complies with the mandates of the American National Standards Institute and are written in a way that enables local jurisdictions to include them in their building Codes. Once they are included by reference by the building Code they gain the "force of law".

Regards, John.
