Piled Raft Design in ETABS rather than SAFE

The only difference I can see is that SAFE has the ability to perform cracked section analysis for the raft and apply elasto-plastic springs.

But it seems you could estimate the load distribution and cracking using a simple stiffness modifier for the raft and non-linear area and point springs within ETABS?

Has anybody taken this approach before?

I do that a lot. Not for beginners. People here are mostly non experienced.
