Hi folks,

I am designing a project. there will be need new pile foundation installed exterior only for a existing building.
there are 16" diameter cast in place concrete with 8"x48" grade beam under existing building.
new pile capacity is 200 KN compression, 200 KNm moment on top.

anybody have idea?

Thanks,

Take out the moment through the grade beam shear steel with additional transverse tie beams.

A sketch with some forces would be very helpful here. Does the moment arise simply from the gravity load being applied eccentrically to the pile? Any meaningful moment connection between a 16" circular pile and an 8" wide grade beam will extremely difficult to detail.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
