When I go to open a file in SW I used to see a small picture of the part before the file name but just recently those have disappeared. Any ideas why and how do I get those back? Thanks.

If you go into the system options in the general tab about half way down the list of check boxes there is an option to show preview in windows explore.

Are you getting the Part/Assembly/Drawing type icons, or are you getting the general "Windows doesn't know what kind of file this is" icon? If it's the second one, good luck. Our IS somehow screwed this up globally at our facility. None of the SW file types will show the preview or the correct icon type. They still open with SW, but the icons won't work right.

It shows the Part/Assembly/Drawing type icon that SW shows in the feature manager design tree.

Hi

In SolidWorks tools>system options>general,

Ensure the option to show thumbnail graphics in windows explorer is ticked.

Sorry draftman..you answered that already oops :)

That is checked but they still don't show.

Sometimes files are saved without a preview image.

After selecting the checkbox, you will have to restart solidworks and/or you computer.
