Hi,

I was wondering how the 'create part' button in the part family commands NX to create new files.

I have limited experience with programming but am looking to start automating some processes within NX and it would be really cool to be able to drive things from an external spreadsheet.

Thanks,
Dan

I am no expert here, but I do work with part families some. Maybe I am misunderstanding what you want to do. To my understanding, it doesnt work from an external spreadsheet. When you open Part Families and click the button for "Create Spreadsheet", you are creating one inside the file.

Can I ask what experience you have with Part Families in NX? So I know how to help.

I am trying to create an assembly family. I've been looking at nested part families but can't seem to get it working. I was wondering whether a better solution might be to have a crack at writing my own NX open program or something to do it for me. If this is possible it would be really good to use an external spreadsheet to drive parameters etc.

I see what you mean about it being an internal spreadsheet!

I know how to set up part families for parts to vary parameters, and turn on/off features and components etc.

Thanks,
Dan
