I want to simulataneously apply 12vdc to two automtive relays which are separated by about 33 feet.

can I just wire their dc inputs together and apply 12vdc + and - to one of them?

I ask because I was told to use 3 wire cable to wire them.

Yes, you can.

I do not really understand the question. Why should there be any hesitation at all? A relay coil usually doesn't consume much current. And even if there are two in parallel, it doesn't mean much current.

A 33 ft cable (about ten metres) is not a long cable, so the voltage drop will be neglible - unless you are using a very thin cable. Anything which is thick enough to constitute a "cable" can be used.

I'm sorry the question was unclear.
The person that told me to use 3 wire cable started my confustion - I see the need for only 2 wire cable.
That was my qestion.

Maybe he meant "3-wire control" for the equipment this is operating.

hi
maybe he referred to the therd core as a screen, for transients.
