I am working on a cold-formed steel bleacher framing and want to design diagonal braces. I wondering how much lateral load we should use for such structure
10% of live load? any reference for that? Thanks

This thread may have some useful info: thread507-459990. The first post links to this article which mentions that ASCE 7-10 covers lateral loads for grandstands, bleachers and stadium seating. Note that I have no experience in this area and am simply regurgitating info that I read on this forum, so take this with a grain of salt.

dcceecy - for your application, lateral loading is indeed dictated by code. ASCE 7-10, Chapter 4, table 4-1, footnote k.

Good call, Stick.

The IStructE (UK) has a guide that recommends 7.5% of the design vertical live load for "grandstands for which the intended use includes pop concerts or other lively events". Otherwise use 5%.
