Is there any special licensing requirements for NYC or is NYC covered under New York State PE License?

I believe it is covered by NY License. HOWEVER, NYC has its own codes!! And they can be kind of nasty. You will need to get a copy.

The city does not administer its own licensure requirements. However, as MiketheEngineer has noted, we have our own building code, which is essentially the UBC with local modifications. The DoB also has requirements for plans that may deviate from standard practice elsewhere. Finally, an additional complication is that some state-owned projects have to adhere to the state code instead.

The NYS PE is all you need and relevant experience. No separate SE license.

The 2008 NYCBC is the current code and it is based on the 2003 IBC. NYC was late in adopting the IBC. They always had their own code (for many years, the 1968 code) until the 2008 version - even under BOCA days.

As pointed out by Mike and firai, there are numerous amendments and additional regulations; and a whole bunch more in the pipeline.
