Is an SE license required for doing Structural Engineering in Tennessee? I ask since it has seismic loads.

Comments/suggestions are appreciated

No. Just a Civil for residential. What kind of work are you looking to do?

Not positive...but if its not a school or emergency facility, I imagine Civil is all you need.

Bear in mind last i checked there's a $400 yearly privilege "tax" on being an engineer in Tennessee.

Unless it's changed in the last five years or so, there's no separate licensure for structural in Tennessee.

Can you please site that? I just got my license there a year ago and had no such fee. I got my license thru reciprocity from CA.

Hoping to do work there soon.

I believe Engineers have been omitted from the privilege tax in TN as of 2020.

Even for a school or emergency facility, you just need a PE. There is no SE in Tennessee. Here's a list that was up to date in 2018. For detailed information on all 50 states, Harbor Compliance keeps up a pretty good store of information: https://www.harborcompliance.com/engineer-license-requirements-registration
