I've got a basic hole size of 1.25". I'm expected to apply an interferance fit but, I can't seem to find the upper and lower limit of the shaft in any of the fit tables I've been provided!

Any of you guys able to help me out?

Thanks!

Hi Rmac,

Interference fits is kind of a broad statement. What type (class) of fit are you looking for.

I don't have mine a home, but you should be able to find the information that you require in Machinery Hanbk.

rmac311,

Could you define your problem a little better? For each fit class, the Machinery's Handbook provides tolerance tables with recommended tolerances for holes and shafts. It also provides the clearances and interferences, so that you can calculate your own tolerances when you do not control both pieces.

If you want to control the forces and stresses from the interference, you are in the wrong forum. Perhaps you should look in one of the mechanical engineering forums.
