What are the minimum requirements for fillet welds used for welding of nameplate support to the shell of a pressure vessel? Is there a minimum throat dimension? Do I have to apply UW-18(d)? How? thanks

ElCidCampeador, see UW-9(g). Unless your nameplate support is a pressure part you can forget UW-18, although UW-18(d) gives a basis for sizing the weld, if you can estimate a load on your bracket.

Your weld procedure may specify a minimum fillet size. If so, use that.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Hello,

If there is no load on name plate bracket than you can weld it by any size of fillet.
Bracket must be fix permanent with vessel.
