Hello Everyone,

I am running a multi-step analysis for a drivetrain. The first step is used to create a contact between gears by controlling rigid body motions and the second step is used to apply the drive torque.

The question I have is will the stresses that are generated in the first step propagate to the second step or the second step starts with zero stress?

Regards

Are you talking about Abaqus ? Is geometric nonlinearity enabled ? Is plasticity defined ? Make a simple test to check how the results are carried over to subsequent steps.

Hello, yes. Generally in ABAQUS contact interactions defined in the initial step propagates to the next step
