How should shallow foundations be modelled below shear walls in ETABS?

I like to create a spring element for each node of the wall elements. The spring stiffness should correlate to the subgrade modulus or the allowable bearing pressure / 10mm settlement. I match the horizontal spring stiffness with the vertical spring stiffness because it gives more uniform shear stress distribution for the shear wall.

Depends on what kind of building you are dealing with. It is a very generic question. For normal buildings, using a pin support should be adequate.

Most buildings I'll just use pins and then export those loads to SAFE for analysis for shear walls.
