On the Thread above regarding modelling precast shear walls in ETABS It reads:
"1. Model the wall with shell elements roughly. In order to simulate with detail the joints, you can modify the property modifiers of the elements close to the joint only.
2. Then, after the analysis, I would obtain the area forces (moments and axial forces) and use a third -arty application to check the adequacy of the cross section and the sufficiency of the provided reinforcement. A good software choice to do that is this one. Such tools are always necessary especially if one tries to do things beyond the capabilities of a general finite element analysis program or would like to proceed to check/design of irregular or arbitrary cross sections.
Regards,
Gigi "
Can anyone enlighten me what sort of property modifiers do we need to apply to elements close to joint, everything F11, F22 and F12?
Thanks.
