Modal analysis without constraints

Hi,


I am new to Mechanica. When I am going through the modal analysis, I found two options. 1. Modal analyis with constraints, 2. Modal Analysis without constraints. I am able to understand the application of the former. But considering the latter, where does this type of analysis finds its application? Also what is rigid mode search?
