Any recommendations/direction on determining a minumn concrete thickness for a steel deck/conc system based on durability (I'm just looking for the conc thickness, not deck). This will determine the minimum thickness at the drain. It's outside exposed underneath as well. It's in Lubbock, TX. This will be a balcony adjoining college dorms.

thanks for any advice

I wouldn't use steel deck for external balcony slabs. That is just asking for long term problems, as the deck will eventually corrode.

Additional thickness does not necessarily equate with additional durability. Durability depends on the quality of the concrete itself, as well as the design and construction of the slab.
