Mesh dependency

I have seen this term "mesh dependency" in some FEM books (e.g. Zenienkiewicz) but find it very hard to get the idea. I would appreciate for any help.

Mesh dependency describes a solution which appears to follow the mesh nodal positions. You can see this sometimes when a high stress occurs at a badly shaped element or the displacements follow the mesh (as in hour glassing).
