Mathcad still alive ??

We still use Mathcad. We even bit the bullet and jumped into prime - it definitely helped that none of us brought an extensive 13/14/15 library with us, so we had to rebuild all the sheets anyway.
We mostly use it for repetitive hand calcs, and not anything fancy like IRStuff does, so I can't speak to how various high level functions perform in the newer versions.

Actually, I'm more of a brute force and ignorance kind of person, so the most challenging thing I ever do is solve blocks and a few FFTs, no PDEs or programming.
It's unclear how PTC is actually doing with Mathcad, and they've taken an absurdly long and tortuous path to get from M15 to MP5, and still don't completely have the functionality that M15 had. Nevertheless, even M15 is still more powerful than the only other plausible alternative, SMath Studio, which is free, so there's that, but it is from Russia, so there's that. Other than that, there's a couple of other unit-aware programs, but I've not used them.

I have over 800 Mathcad worksheets. I have been using Mathcad since version 3 in the early 1990s.
I must run Mathcad 13 in a WinXP virtual machine.
I don't see what the newer versions of Mathcad can do that my old Mathcad can't except run on new operating systems.
I do some pretty complex stuff with Mathcad 13.
What I like about Mathcad is the ability to convert units.
What I don't like about Mathcad is that it doesn't solve problems recursively. Mathcad will not optimize subexpressions.
Mathcad still can't assign an expression to a variable where there is a right hand side and a left hand side so the equation can be modified.
I have Mathematica.
However, I use Python and Mathcad the most.
