I am trying to utilize SA-675-Gr70 for an eliptical manway; however, the material does not come up as an option when I select "Add Material". I have selected the material under "ASME Materials".
For B16.5/B16.47 flanges COMPRESS permits the use of only those materials that are listed in the material table (Table 1A) of these standards. See this discussion:
"Although this forum is monitored by Codeware it is not intended as a venue for technical support and should not be used as the primary means of technical support."
When a material is "checked" in the main ASME materials database it is then listed in the material selection list on the component design dialogs and it will not appear in the modified view of the ASME materials database that is accessed by the "Add Material..." command on the component design dialog's material selection list.
Also, some material product forms may not be displayed when using the "Add Material..." command for a particular type of component. Typically, these would be product forms that generally are not suitable for the current component type (eg: bolts would not be listed for a cylidrical shell, etc). This is the case for the bar material SA-675 grade 70 (although I do not know why this product form should not be considered appropriate for a nozzle neck). However, you can force COMPRESS to add the material to the material selection list by first checking it in the main ASME database: select the Materials menu, select the ASME Materials command, then locate the material in the list and "check" it by selecting the material with your mouse cursor (see the video tutorial in this document
The material will then show up in the component dialog's material list.
