I have a question in regards to masonry wall erection tolerances. This is related to another thread located here:
My question is in regards to tolerances found in ACI 530 (attached). ACI states the following for site tolerances:
b. Variation from plumb
+/-1/4” in 10 ft
+/-3/8” in 20 ft
+/- 1/2” maximum
They also list
d. Alignment of columns and walls (bottom vs top)
+/-1/2” for load bearing walls and columns
+/-3/4” for no load bearing walls
I interpret this as being the wall can have a variation along a plumb line as outlined in section b (1/2” maximum with different variations along different lengths similar to the floor flatness requirements). In regards to overall alignment to masonry (what could also be interpreted as plumb), the allowable variation is +/- 1/2” for load bearing walls and +/-3/4" for non load bearing walls.
Is this the correct interpretation of these requirements?
