I'm looking for reference information regarding low temperature ratings for metals specifically 304,316,321, and 347 stainless steels.

In the case of API-650 tank construction, 304 and 316 may be used at any ambient temperature. For pressure vessels, I think ASME VIII states that 304 and 316 may be used down to about -240F. API-620 permits the use of SS for cryogenic temperatures, such as for LNG tanks.

ASME BPV code gives temperature ratings for those materials. I can't remember for sure, but I don't think you need any kind of impact testing down to at least -320, possibly lower.

Please find the following limitation in ASME.

Temperature Limitation (deg.F) of Materials in ASME Code, up to add. 2004

Materials Sec VIII-1 Sec VIII-2 B 31.3

304 SS -320~1500 -320~800 -425~1500
316 SS -320~1500 -320~800 -425~ 800

321 SS -320~1500 -320~800 -325~1500
347 SS -320~1500 -320~800 -425~1500
