I have an assembly with a couple of parts, If I change a dimension on one part, I would like to have another part updating itself based on the dimension of the part that changed.

I used to work with Pro-E and was able to do that, but how to do it with Inventor 2010?

Thanks

You can make parts 'adaptive' or you can make components 'derived' from others. Either one of these ways could potentially do what you ask, try checking the help files for those search terms.

In part A, open the parameters box...find the parameter that is created by the dimension...mark the export button. In part B, open the parameters box...click the Link button and change the file type to Inventor IPTs...find part A and link it in...find parameter in part B to link to parameter of part B and make it equal to part A's parameter now that it can be used.

Thanks mflayler, it worked just fine.....
