Hi,

Based on my understanding of ASME Section V, art. T-762, for an alternating current electromagnetic yoke shall be verified
prior to use each day the yoke is used with the lifting power yokes at least 10 lb and not just once a year. is that it?

LouisLac,

That is correct. The periodicity of yoke calibration was changed from annual to daily, for a reason known only to the committee, in the 2015 Edition of Section V.

I would add that it is a good idea to perform the lift test with the full length of extension cord needed to perform MT on the part to be tested. The longer the power cord, the higher the voltage drop, the lower the amperage, the weaker the magnetic produced. It is one thing to test the yoke plugged directly into a power socket, but it is different when it is at the end of a fifty foot extension cord.

Best regards - Al
