LCB and LCC in ASME B31.3

I recently received this question from an end user/client. I am not able to answer his questtion. Can anyone out there please help.

Recently, we were asked to look at using ASTM A352 LCC in lieu of Grade LCB for some valve bodies in the expectation of being able to take advantage of its higher yield strength. However, when we looked at Table A-1 of ASME B31.3 we found that LCC is not listed although LCB is.

Anyone know why this should be the case?

Anyone accepting valve bodies in LCC and, if so, how do you circumnavigate this problem?

Why are looking for valve castings in Table A-1 of B31.3? This grade of casting for valve bodies is referenced in ASME B16.34, Table 1, Group 1 materials. So, this can indeed be used for valve applications in B31.3.

LCC valve bodies are routinely used in B31.3 applications in Canada. As mentioned by metengr, this is a material listed and permitted in ASME B16.34 and the allowable pressure ratings for these valves is also published in ASME B16.34. Since B16.34 is a listed component standard in B31.3, there is no need to be looking for allowable stress values in B31.3.
