Would it be feasible to mount a laser cutter on the end of a 6-axis robot capable of cutting metal foil?

Foil is aluminium and stainless steel layered together . total thickness <0.5mm.

Robot is an IRB120 with 3 Kg load carrying capacity.

Please recommend manufacturers that may have solution.

Many thanks

I would think a fiber laser be perfect for that. You would have to make sure you don't exceed cable bend limitations though. Then use robotic arms for laser welding at pretty much every auto manufacturer. IPG Photonics (NH) makes them. Maybe unitek miyachi or Synrad. Only Integrator I know in my area (Nashua, NH) is Laser Advantage. they may even have some used systems if cost is an issue. Oh, in Arizona you have Jeff Grainger at Laser Electronics LLC, real smart guy, deals mainly with JK 700 series Nd/Yag Lasers which may be overkill. If looking Used, any 100 watt or more sealed beam CO2 should work. Coherent K series or Synrads you may be able to find.

thanks RPosty.

I'm transferring thread to Mechanical Engineering for greater exposure and revised enquiry.
