Can anyone advise my on the basics of using cutting/burning lasers up to the 1kW region ?
Can slab lasers be used directly, or would I need a pumped unit ?
What is involved in driving/controlling/cooling such a device ? I am not particularly interested in control better than about +/-5%, or duration above a few seconds or dutycycle of more than 10%, and indeed, I will probably never use a source capable of more than 100W ... but would like that to be an option in the future.
