We are looking for a replacement for the a part of our iron core tube which is made of SUS 630. The iron core is part of a linear solenoid actuator assembly.

Presently, SUS 630 tubes are not available in India and we are importing it. I am trying to find a cheaper alternate. Can anyone help?

It was a design handed down to us through the ages.. :)

But as far as I understand it there are two main reason,

1.It has fairly good magnetic permeability.
2.The pressure inside the tube will go up as much as 350 bar, (hoop's stress i believe is the quantity we are talking about)

Some of the old timers recall trial with SUS 410, but I am yet to lay my hands on the documentation as to why it failed.
