Dear all,

I am a new user of MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN suite and I have a problem:
how could I import a AUTOCAD file (dwg)?

Hi

Unfortunately I don't think you can import (dwg) into Patran. I don't have Patran but that's what I've heard.

What you might be able to do is to create surfaces or solids and export/import a sat-file.

Good Luck

Hi Thomas,
thank you very much, but what sat-file is???
Are there some import tool to directely convert dwg file in NASTRAN useable file????

Marco

Hi

SAT is a solid format. As far as I know it doesn't support lines, only surfaces and solids. If you look in AutoCad at File-export there is a selection, try ACIS (sat).

If your preprocessor supports dxf that is also a possibility since dxf can export/import lines/curves. But I don't think Patran has support for dxf imports.

Good Luck.
