Hello all,

Have anyone else experienced that IBM's IntelliStation Z Pro does not perform very well? The OS is Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Pro/ENGINEER is very slow, but also other applications like MS Office, file management, copying etc is working very bad.

We are running Pro/ENGINEER 2001.

You have not specified your hardware configuration... There are good Intellistations and there are bad intellistations for Pro/E.

Here's a very bad one:

We had Z-pro's where I used to work, They were great. Our specs were:

2.8 (win 2KSP4) or 3.2 (Win XPSP2) Ghz Cpu's

2GB ram minimum

Nvidia Quadro 980XGL or FX3400 graphics cards with the latest drivers

Performance can vary, so list your specs and we can tell if it is the machine or your environment.

looslib: About bad performance on IBM's IntelliStation Z Pro.

Regarding my report about this yesterday, here are some more specifications for our workstations:

Model name: IBM 6223Z0P

CPU: 3,6 GHz Intel Pentium 4

Memory: 1024 Mb

OS: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

Graphic card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 1300

Bios information: Version 4.35.20.45.14

Appreciate all help !!!

Hello

In my own humble opinion1024mb of ram is simply not suitable for running relatively large assemblies with other back ground processes running, however I,ve only ever used wildfire but i believe 2001 is less memory intensive but if you having problems with office based programs something is wrong. Do you access information overa network or is the computer a standalone machine? we have serious problems at my workplace with 'network lag' and this could well be worth taking a look alsoat have you tried benchmarking your system(s) this can help you identify 'bottlenecks' in your system (most probably the ram!) Device drivers are also a common source of problems (newest not always the best) and make sure there certified

you can find a free benchmark tool here http://www.proesite.com/

cheers

Paul
