To all Etabs master,

Just a question on how to model in etabs an eccentric beam connected in column (beam not in the center of column) in such a way to analyze a proper/accurate column behaviour.

I never find such assingment in etabs. Hence, I am introducing a rigid beam of same width as columns and a depth of 3 x the beam height just to offset the beam on column center. Should this approach correct in the analysis?

model the beam with the required eccentricity and join the beam joint with thee column using the link element

Some alternatives:

1. Ignore eccentricities if they are relatively small, as considering them may result in difficulties achieving a proper area mesh afterwards
2. If eccentricities are located on the beam axis, then the end length offset option may be a solution
3. Otherwise, create a dummy element (of any cross section) with reduced stiffness modifiers (0.001) and zero mass-weight modifiers. This will be used to connect the column with the actual starting node of the beam.
