Yes, that is how most IT departments handle backups. But is it the proper method, NO!
You need to do at least two additional things to ensure you have a backup that can restore your Intralink 3.x system to a working condition. One is a cross reference listing of the Intralink file name to the OS filename. The second thing is to shutdown Intralink, both the fileserver and the dataserver, before doing the backup.
If you are working with a Windchill-based solution, you also have the same considerations.
