How do I create a clip section in an assembly between two axis?

As per title I wish to create a section between two parallel shafts in the assembly mode but can't seem to achieve it simply (by clicking each axis), instead I need to create planes manually first which seems extremely inefficient.

Cheers.

In the "section plane" portion of the dialog box, set the "specify plane" option to "inferred" and select the two axes. As long as the shafts are not skewed, this should create a cut plane through the shaft centerlines.

Thanks, but that doesn't seem to work in an assembly. I can only get that to work in a part. In an assembly it doesn't want to recognise any axis.

Make sure your selection intent filter is set to "Entire Assembly".

I've got it set to entire assembly, but when I select the second axis the section just jumps to it exclusively rather than including it with the first axis...

Instead of "inferred", try "two lines".
