Holes allow for air circulation, don't they?

Is the cooling load of your electronics large enough to need conduction and convection both? Or will just conduction do?

Will your electronic product be in the weather, or in a corrosive environment?

Will it be mounted in an area that must be washed down or sterilized?

Will your electronic product be in a hazardous location?

There are many considerations.

Best to you,

Is your box NEMA rated?

"tow box" ???

You apply the appropriate equations to the appropriate simplifications of the structure. Barring that, you find someone with a FEM thermal analysis program.

is a free for download heat transfer text. Not my favorite, but it's free.
