Hole Table and Cut-Extruded text

I have a simple plate with a fair number of threaded holes. Also on this plate there is text that will be impression stamped onto the part. I have used the cut-extrude feature to show this on the part.

I am using the hole table function to locate the holes. Problem is the hole table is locating each character of text as well as the location of each hole.

I poked around and cannot find a way to have the hole table ignore the cut-extruded text. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Lon

In the text sketch, are you locating the text to the holes with a dim? Try not tying them together. You can use a design table.
Or, create all the holes first, make the hole table, then add the text.

Text is located using the edge of the part, not any of the holes.

I did generate the table first then added text after. It updated the table.

What I just tried and seems to work fine is selecting each hole as opposed to the face of the part. Took a while longer to do that. With the number of holes involved it would have been quicker to select the face, then deselect each character of text.

If anyone has a better way, I would be glad to hear it

Thanks

I will try it later today.

Can you do a split surface so the holes and text are not on the same surface?

If the text is stamped in after the holes are machined, then you could have a config showing just the holes for the hole machining process and another config showing just the text, or the holes plus text.

The "holes only" config would be used for the hole table reference, and the "all included" config for the stamping process.

Have you tried to create the text on a plane at the depth of what the text should be and then cut-extrude up through the face surface where the holes were created. Just a thought, I did not try this out.

Did not try split face
What worked was the configuration method. As the hole table does not have an option for choosing a specific config, I had the no text config active when using the hole table, then change back to config with text to show what text detail and location.

Thanks for the help

That worked until I closed and reopened the drawing. So much for configurations when using the hole table function.

Don't have time to play so I deleted the cut extrude and extruded text out. That worked fine, for now. No auto matic update.

When I get a moment I will try the offset plane and extrude test up.

I tried my suggestion, with no luck. It seems that whatever is cut into that face will show up in the table, even a split-face. There should be a way to filter out just holes. Enhancement request I guess.

The config method works fine for me!!!

When using the config method you will need to permanently have the "no text" view referenced to the hole table. The "with text" config should be used in a separate view.

The link shows both configs with a separate Hole Table assigned to each.

How about this - suppress the text feature, make the hole table, and unsuppress the text.
